Mastercard League of Legends World Championships opening ceremony

Gravity Road sent me to California to shoot a mini-documentary about the coming together of the opening ceremony for the League of Legends eSport World Championships hosted by Riot Games for Mastercard. Worlds is the largest global competition of the year, where the best League of Legends teams from around the globe will compete to decide who is the best team. The opening ceremony is a 12-minute spectacle featuring Lil Nas X, Jackson Wang and Edda Hayes. We took a deep dive into the creative vision, the process and the production process of the show.

We started by covering early rehearsals at The Lot at Formosa, a studio in Hollywood, and followed the production to the Chase Centre in San Francisco right up until the finals.
