What Light Remains wins Best Dance Sequence - Choreography

It's been a good week for my shorts. What Light Remains has won Best Dance Sequence / Choreography at the International Celebration of Cinema.

The film follows a young man on the eve of his brother's eighteenth birthday, alone in an empty village hall, trying to write a speech. The words won't come, weighed down by the rules of masculinity he's inherited: don't cry, don't ask for help, keep it together. When music drifts in from another room, something shifts. The speech is abandoned. His body takes over.

Thanks to Lewis Jelley for capturing that sequence so well, it's a big part of why this one landed.

Good to see that story touching something real for people.
