Bigger Than Everything After

Told through alternating close-up monologues, Bigger Than Everything After traces the memory of a single night between two strangers who almost became something more. A laugh, a cigarette, a dance, a silence stretched too long; moments of intimacy and hesitation unfold in fragments, overlapping but never quite touching.

At once intimate and universal, the film reflects on nostalgia, vulnerability, and how the smallest choices can change the shape of a life.

I shot the two performances separately. They never saw each other’s delivery. That distance was deliberate. Their characters’ lives have gone in different directions, and I wanted that separation to sit inside the performances. Speaking into silence made their memories feel more personal and more honest, two people recalling the same night from far apart, years later.

For the final colour pass I used Dehancer in Davinci Resolve this time to try it out. Dehancer is a film emulation plug in that recreates the look and texture of analog film through grain, halation, bloom, and colour profiles.
