Casting Calls Autumn 25

Still from Days Like These

In the final quarter of 2025 I’m planning to shoot three short films: What Light Remains, Skin Deep and Bigger Than Everything After. The first two form a trilogy with Days Like These.

And a separate project, although it does lean into similar themes is Bigger Than Everything Ever After.

Bigger Than Everything After

Told through alternating close-up monologues, Bigger Than Everything After traces the memory of a single night between two strangers who almost became something more. A laugh, a cigarette, a dance, a silence stretched too long — moments of intimacy and hesitation unfold in fragments, overlapping but never quite touching.

At once intimate and universal, the film reflects on nostalgia, vulnerability, and how the smallest choices can change the shape of a life.

Unwritten Futures - A trilogy of short films

Unwritten Futures is a trilogy of short films exploring the inner lives of a generation caught between uncertainty and expectation. Set in the UK, each film examines the weight of modern coming-of-age: from two friends lingering in their last days as students (Days Like These), to a young man wrestling with silence, vulnerability, and what masculinity means (What Light Remains), to a young woman confronting the pressures of self-image in the digital age (Skin Deep).

Intimate and cinematic, these stories reflect the anxieties and hopes of Gen Z — a portrait of youth navigating financial insecurity, mental health, technology, and identity, while searching for connection and belonging.

Casting Call – What Light Remains

What Light Remains is a short, performance-led film about masculinity, silence, and emotional release. A young man prepares a speech for his younger brother’s 18th birthday party, reflecting on the weight of expectations passed down through generations. Alone in the empty community hall before the guests arrive, he wrestles with the words — until music drifts in and he finds freedom through movement.

Role: Male-identifying actor, 18–24, lower middle class.

We’re looking for someone who can capture both the quiet pressure of inherited masculinity and the raw release of vulnerability.

Performance:

  • Monologues that shift between sarcasm, tenderness, and frustration

  • Ability to hold silence and tension in close-up

  • Comfort with physical expression and dance (no choreography — more about release and authenticity)

Commitment: 1 shoot day in Bristol, October/November 2025.
Expenses: Unpaid/showreel, but travel and food covered

A sensitive, collaborative project filmed with a minimal crew in a supportive environment.

Casting Call – Skin Deep

Skin Deep: A young woman sits before her mirror, phone in hand, recording notes to her body. Between the reflection and the screen, she navigates self-image, performance, and truth in the age of social media. An intimate portrait of identity and the weight of expectation.

We are casting for the lead role in Skin Deep, a short film exploring body image, self-perception, and the pressures of social media on young women today.

Role: Young woman (18–25). The character is seen by others as attractive and confident, yet her private world reveals doubt, self-criticism, and vulnerability. The story hinges on this contrast — how someone perceived as beautiful can still feel insecure and inadequate.

Performance will involve:

  • Delivering direct-to-camera monologues (“body notes”)

  • Shifting between performance voice and private honesty

  • Working in close-up and with minimal makeup

  • Balancing humour, silence, and raw vulnerability

Commitment: 1 shoot day in Bristol, October/November 2025.
Expenses: Unpaid/showreel, but travel and food covered.

This is a sensitive, intimate project that will be filmed with a minimal crew in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Casting Call - Bigger Than Everything After

Project Overview

Bigger Than Everything After is a poetic short film told through two intimate monologues. Two characters, remembering the night they first met, reflect on small choices, fragile connections, and the weight of what might have been.

The film is shot entirely in close-up — head and shoulders only — alternating between the two characters. Performances rely on subtlety, truthfulness, and the ability to convey deep inner life through restraint.

Casting Breakdown

HER (early 20s)

  • Natural, understated performance style. Not polished, but real.

  • Wardrobe: light clothing (t-shirt, dress, or vest top). The suggestion of a warmer climate.

HIM (early 20s)

  • Introverted, thoughtful, carries a quiet intensity.

  • Slightly awkward at first, but layered with depth and vulnerability.

  • Performance should hold restraint — emotions breaking through subtly, not overtly.
