John’s story
John is 82 and has been sailing since he was 13. When pain in his knee started to take the boat away from him, he had a knee replacement followed by months of physiotherapy. We filmed him as the recovery was starting to show: walking a little further each day, and looking ahead to the end of the season, when he hopes to be back on the water.
Karin's Story
Karin was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2023, after a lifetime of good health. She welcomed us into her home and talked about the moment the diagnosis landed, the eight-hour operation that followed, and life since. That includes the stoma she has named Gladys. "We tolerate each other," she says. She is open, funny and clear-eyed about all of it.
