Director Statement
Last Song grew out of my own memories of teenage summers, a time when everything felt heightened, stretched out, and emotionally intense. I wanted to return to that feeling of long days, late nights, and relationships that seem to form and unravel almost entirely through moments rather than words. Looking back, those summers exist in my mind less as clear narratives and more as fragments, gestures, and sensations.
Music has always played a central role in my life, especially in how it connects people. Certain songs carry entire periods of time within them, capable of collapsing years into a single moment. In this film, music becomes both a shared language and a quiet emotional undercurrent, drawing two people together before slowly slipping out of reach.
I was interested in how connection can fade not through dramatic events, but through silence, misalignment, and the things left unsaid. Last Song is a reflection on first love, nostalgia, and the fragile space where memory and feeling continue to overlap long after a moment has passed.
